Dear Emma,

Well I have arrived in France safe and sound and the weather here is fabulous.... 24 degrees today!! The people here have been absolutley wonderful with helping me find my way.

My plane left Toronto on time and on the firstplane I sat with a black belt from Toronto who is also going to France. It was a short ride to Montreal where we got off and waited to board our second plane for Paris. I thought of you while I was waiting as there was a whole class of students who were also travelling to Paris for a class trip - you would love that when you get to high school.

On the second plane I met two wonderful young people who were from France and Montreal. We conversed in French the whole trip which gave me lots of pratice for France.

I arrived in Paris around 10:30am this morning (France time) and then proceeded to take 3 trains to get to Charleville-Mezieries. I checked into my hotel around 3pm and you should see my room.... you are going to laugh when you see how small it is - I will upload pics as soon as I get another thingy for my camera.

I am now sitting in a Tavern downtown having a beer before I head back to the hotel and rest up for the tournament  tomorrow. After walking 3 hours (which I only intended to do just an hour -but I got lost....) my feet are killing me and I am really tired due to not getting alot of sleep on the plane.

I am travelling to Europe to participate in the Wolrd Kobudo Federation Martial Arts Convention in Charlesville-Mezieres, France. Competitions start Thursday May 8th, and then on the 9th to the 11th, I will have the opportunity to train every day, all day, with over 50 international instructors..... WOW!

Travelling the distance to France for Martial Arts is amazing enough, but I thought I would maximize the opportunity by staying on a bit longer and travel in Paris, Germany and Austria.... stay tuned as my Europe Excursion soon gets underway!
